se81.exe (hupigon)

Post  Mattman on Mon Feb 08, 2010 1:30 pm

The se81.exe virus appears to open ports to allow remote access.

It spreads itself by placing an 'autorun.ini' file and an 'se81.exe' file in the root of the boot drive. The 'autorun.ini' is setup to run the 'se81.exe' file and copy the two files to all other drives... including USB and network drives.

As for clean up, follow these steps:

  1. Start the computer into safe mode with networking.
  2. Download the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool from here.
  3. Run the tool.
  4. Delete 'c:\autorun.ini' and the same file on any other drives.
  5. Restart the computer.
